National Pet Day

Somehow I was caught off guard by National Pet Day...something I had never heard of before! Every day is pet day in our house and here's a recently completely papercut of Muffin. It's hard to believe that he is 14/15 and that we have had him for six and a half years.

Here's to 2015!

For many years now, I haven't been good at sending Christmas cards. I think a few trickled out though. Over the holidays I made a lot of special cards for friends, and you'll be seeing more of them soon. Here's one for a budgie friend of mine:


I really enjoyed making the cards. Truly, my friends inspired me! Best of all, I didn't let thinking get in the way of doing. I just went with what I felt and didn't worry about being perfect. I would love to do a giant disco Muffin down the road. In terms of 2014...well, for the Year of the Horse, I felt more like the horse was dragging me through the mud and gleefully running under trees instead of me riding it. Hopefully I don't get headbutted by the ram next month :-)

Unintentional Fibre Week!

Hi friends, It has finally cooled down enough to feel like I can do things again. Our house is an oven and the other week it was regularly hitting +30 C (86-89 F) and it was extremely oppressive. It was hard to keep the birds cool and despite being tropical birds, they were suffering as much as the people. My husband came down with a dreaded summer cold as well!

It was so hot I couldn't even bear to read to keep my mind off of it. Sleepless nights abounded. The craftiest thing I could get up to was warping a loom for a new tapestry. It required very little thought and the only decisions to be made was selecting colours.

By good fortune, I also had an eye appointment which was very close to one of Calgary's premier wool shops, Gina Brown's. Thank goodness tapestry wool is inexpensive :-)

Muffin loves fibre arts as much as I do...and I have had trouble keeping him out of the tapestry wool :-)

Second Drawing Project...

So after making 100 drawings, we had to pick 10 and render them with fine pens. Muffin was a natural fave! I will upload the picture of all the drawings pinned to the wall soon. I'm actually on vacation but am getting some work done. Will be writing about that soon too!
